We are always pleased to help with research by Universities and students where possible.
In the past we have been involved in a number of projects involving both the otters and our butterflies.
We can take students on work placements ( there are limited spaces available) and also offer our facilities for students to study our otters on site for specific projects.
Previous student projects have looked into otter communication using digital recording devices, work with thermal imaging cameras, investigation into dietary habits, spraint analysis and DNA sampling and an interesting photographic project involving high speed photography of butterfly flight patterns and aerodynamics.
For students wishing to pursue a career in Animal Management we recommend Bridgewater College who run courses suitable for career paths that could include zookeeper, conservationist, safari park ranger, researcher, teacher etc. There are also courses in Countryside Management that could lead to career paths in countryside officer/ranger, warden, gamekeeper, recreation officer, estate manager or wildlife trust worker.
