Re-opening safety measures.
We have been following government guidelines and have introduced measures to ensure our staff and visitors are kept safe. Please read the following information:
We have reduced visitor numbers by making admission by pre-booking online only.
Tickets will be for a morning or afternoon time slot which includes an otter feeding time.
We will close for 1 hour at 12.30pm and 3.30pm to clean and wipe down surfaces around the Otter Sanctuary.
Tickets can be purchased here on our home page and are for the otters only, the butterfly house and all other indoor exhibits will remain closed for the time being.
All tickets can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before the visit. They are non-refundable in the case of a no show on the day, sorry.
We have hand sanitising stations at our entrance and around the Otter Sanctuary. We ask that all visitors please make use of these on arrival and exit.
If you or any of your “bubble” feel poorly in any way, please don’t visit until you are fully recovered.
Please observe social distancing and keep a safe 2m distance from those outside your “bubble”.
We have a market stall outside for souvenirs, please do not handle items unless you are going to buy. Card payments only please.
Currently we have no visitor toilet facilities.
All Otter Experience Vouchers and Season tickets will have their expiry dates extended and we will look forward to welcoming visitors back.
The feeding times at 11.30am, 2.00pm are the best times to see and enjoy the otters, so plan your visit around these times.
Don't forget David and our keeper Keira are always on hand to talk about the otters and our conservation work at otter feeding time and any other time during your visit.
We are open for "Otter Experiences" throughout the year but pre-booking is essential.
We regret dogs are not permitted (dogs are usually well behaved but the otters go bonkers!)
However we have a large car park with shady areas (come early) and a lovely walk beside the river Dart where your dog can run and swim. Your ticket allows re entry throughout the day giving you the opportunity to leave someone with your dog at all times while it remains outside.
We are wheelchair friendly but some of the fences around the otter pens are too high to see over while seated so we always ask those using wheelchairs to chat to our keepers who will help you find the best vantage points.
Don't forget we always advise where animals and wildlife are concerned for good health and hygiene reasons always wash your hands after your visit.
Remember otters can bite so parents please supervise your children at all times.
